Her academic journey in nursing culminated with a Masters from North Park University, Chicago. Committed to lifelong learning, she has amassed hundreds of hours in continuing education, completing the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Advanced Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) and Pediatrics training in 2018. Ajaa
Family Nurse Practitioner
Ajaa is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner passionate about root-cause medicine and health optimization. She brings over eight years of experience as a bedside nurse across Minnesota and California, where she developed a strong foundation in acute care. While she is deeply grateful for that training, she always sensed her calling was beyond symptom management alone.
After navigating her own health challenges, Ajaa experienced firsthand how frustrating and ineffective a “band-aid” approach to medicine can feel. That journey reshaped her understanding of healing and solidified her belief that true wellness requires personal accountability and a comprehensive approach to mind, body, and spirit — something she believes is often missing in the traditional medical model.
As a practitioner, Ajaa values unrushed, one-on-one time with her patients. She believes listening is one of the most powerful clinical tools and creates space for individuals to share their full story. Through comprehensive testing and personalized care plans, she works to uncover the root drivers of illness rather than simply managing symptoms.
Ajaa is also a strong believer that movement is medicine. She began teaching Xformer in 2021 and went on to earn her Pilates certification through West Valley College in 2023, based on the STOTT Pilates method. She also holds certification in functional nutrition, further supporting her integrative approach to care.
Outside of her work, Ajaa enjoys baking with freshly milled flour, listening to podcasts, and thrifting for hidden treasures.
Michelle Wrobel
Registered Nurse
With nearly two decades of nursing experience, Michelle Wrobel brings precision, compassion, and a deep commitment to patient wellness to the functional medicine space. Michelle began her career in 2005 and has spent the majority of her time serving the most delicate population—as a NICU nurse. During her years in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, she specialized in vascular access, becoming the PICC line team lead and honing her expertise in IV placement and blood draws under the most complex and sensitive conditions.
Today, Michelle brings that same level of excellence and care to patients seeking IV therapy and integrative wellness support. She combines clinical skill with a holistic mindset, believing in the body’s ability to heal and thrive when supported through both science and lifestyle.
Outside of nursing, Michelle is a proud and devoted mom of three. She loves to travel with her daughters and they often find themselves in a pickleball court. She leads by example, maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle and always looking for ways to promote long-term well-being for her family and her patients.
Marnell Hux
Registered Nurse
Marnell’s path into functional medicine grew from a desire to provide care that aligned with her own philosophy of health. Drawing from over a decade of nursing experience, she brings clinical expertise, personal insight, and a deep passion for root-cause healing. She has cared for diverse patient populations, often teaching on chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Over time, she felt a growing disconnect—realizing that a symptom-focused approach didn’t fully align with how she believed health should be supported. She felt called to work with individuals who were ready to take ownership of their health and proactively care for themselves.
It was her own health journey that brought everything into focus. Navigating postpartum challenges after her first child led her to start working in a functional medicine clinic, where she was introduced to root-cause care and experienced firsthand the power of targeted support for nutritional deficiencies. That healing changed her life, eventually allowing her to have a healthy second pregnancy without the postpartum struggles she once feared. It was the moment her professional work and personal journey aligned, solidifying her commitment to this approach to wellness.
Today, she delivers safe, comfortable, and attentive IV experiences—supporting patients with the same intentional, compassionate care that guided her own healing. Outside of work, she and her husband, a physical therapist, enjoy playing with their three young kids, staying active and spending time outdoors.
Autumn Siebold
Registered Nurse
Autumn Siebold has extensive experience with IVs, working in outpatient hospital procedures where all patients need an IV. She was drawn to this position because of her years of IV expertise and curiosity about functional medicine. Her ability to make patients feel wonderfully at ease and her attention to detail are just a couple of qualities that make her a great fit for our patients.
Health and wellness are key to Autumn’s professional and personal life. She truly believes you should practice what you preach. When she is not working, she enjoys going to the gym, walking everywhere, and practicing yoga. Health plays a big part in her personal life, and she enjoys self-care to the fullest. She also has two girls who keep her running around with their various activities. She may be volunteering with her daughters’ Girl Scout troops or traveling for competitive cheerleading. She is eager to be a part of many people’s health and wellness journey.
Yuna
Patient Concierge
Yuna plays an important leadership role at Nourish House Calls, helping ensure that the operational side of patient care runs smoothly and efficiently. Working closely with Joya, she oversees many of the day-to-day administrative and coordination efforts that support the clinical team, including patient records, lab orders and results, appointment scheduling, and timely responses to patient inquiries.
Over the years, Yuna has worked closely with Joya and Dave as the practice has grown, contributing to the development of systems and processes that help the team stay organized and responsive to patients’ needs. With her background in business operations and team leadership, she focuses on strengthening operational efficiency, supporting team collaboration, and helping the business run in a way that allows providers to focus fully on delivering quality care.
Yuna believes that excellent healthcare goes beyond medical treatment. She values clear communication, trust, and ensuring that patients feel supported throughout their health journey.
Outside of work, Yuna enjoys cooking, staying active, and spending time working toward her personal fitness goals.
John
Patient Concierge
John is the Administrative Assistant at Nourish, playing an essential role in supporting the practice’s operations behind the scenes. While patients may not always interact with him directly, his work helps ensure every patient’s care journey runs smoothly and efficiently. John manages important operational processes including ordering laboratory tests, tracking incoming lab results, and reviewing patient appointment notes to ensure that follow-up plans, repeat labs, and care recommendations are properly documented and scheduled. By maintaining accurate systems and internal reminders, he helps the team stay proactive in reaching out to patients at the right time for follow-ups and continued care.
He also monitors incoming communications from different laboratories, including billing claims and insurance-related requests, ensuring that lab orders are properly entered into the system to support insurance coverage whenever possible. Through careful coordination and attention to detail, John helps keep patient information organized and accessible for the care team.
Working closely with the team, John also assists Yuna in maintaining internal reports and reminders that support the practice’s workflow. His dedication helps create harmony across the team and ensures patients receive timely, well-coordinated care.

Joya’s Story
Joya Van Der Laan’s journey into healthcare began in the inquisitive corners of her childhood, nurtured by a deep-seated curiosity about the ‘whys’ of life. Raised in Ontario, Canada, by ‘Christian hippie parents,’ Joya’s early years were steeped in natural living — from homemade fruit leathers to lentil-rich meals, fostering a connection with holistic wellness from a young age.
Her aunt, an herbalist with a non-traditional take on health, opened Joya’s eyes to the world of alternative medicine. This exposure planted seeds of thought that later blossomed into a career path divergent from conventional healthcare paradigms.
Joya’s educational journey, marked by a critical, questioning mindset, led her to Calvin University and later to Northwestern Memorial Hospital as an RN. Amidst traditional medical training, she maintained an internal dialogue, constantly challenging the status quo and seeking more comprehensive answers to health issues.
This inner quest continued through her master’s program, where she adhered to the curriculum while privately exploring the broader spectrum of medical knowledge.
Joya’s career took a defining turn in 2011, post-graduation, when she joined a pain management practice that aligned with her functional medicine aspirations. Here, she honed her skills in treating chronic pain, hormonal imbalances, and various complex health issues that conventional medicine struggled to address effectively.
Founding Nourish House Calls
In 2018, driven by a desire to offer more personalized, patient-centric care, Joya established Nourish House Calls. What started as a part-time venture quickly grew into a thriving practice, largely through referrals from patients and other healthcare providers.
With her husband, Dave, Joya has nurtured Nourish House Calls into a beacon of hope for those seeking a more empathetic, thorough approach to healthcare.
At Nourish House Calls, Joya’s philosophy is simple yet profound: to work with the body, not against it. Her approach is a blend of critical thinking, a deep understanding of Functional Medicine, and a heartfelt desire to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives.
Embracing each patient’s unique journey, I am dedicated to uncovering the ‘whys’ behind their health challenges and crafting personalized pathways to optimized wellness.
